Timo Andersson is an artist based in Espoo, Finland. His current practice focuses on the poetic possibilities of painting and drawing. His works are hypertextural explorations of material, color and gesture.

The firm, articulated form of his pieces is at odds with the slippery imagery they contain, resulting in visual friction that is further complicated by the tactile resonance of their materials. Their uniform, at times repetitive compositions allude to double vision, optical interference, and the mind’s subconscious drive to organize chaotic visual input into coherent perception.

His works are ultimately about images: how they’re manipulated, displayed and warped by memory and our digital ecosystems, and ultimately presented as loose compromises that are sometimes at odds with the physical reality around them. Modernist landscapes, chimerical still lifes and interpretations of micro-scale organic life are all compressed together and squeezed through the sieve of a polyester mesh fabric to create new visual realities.
